Video Summary
BIA-SCC is a rare, aggressive squamous cancer arising in the capsule around breast implants, often after many years and commonly presenting with breast swelling, pain, redness, or seroma. Diagnosis begins with history, exam, ultrasound, aspiration, and pathology markers such as CK5/6 and p63; MRI helps define extent. Surgery is the main treatment: complete implant removal, total capsulectomy, and wide margins, sometimes requiring rib or chest wall resection with reconstruction. Chemotherapy and radiation have limited benefit. Early recognition is critical because delayed diagnosis has a high mortality risk.
