The In-Service Retake Examination is comprised of a question and answer exam, broken into five separate exam modules, each consisting of approximately 50 questions and timed at 60 minutes per module. Expected duration of the exam is 5 hours in length.  The In-Service Retake Examination presents content originally presented during the Residents’ In-Service Exam conducted in March of that year. Randomization of its content provides examinees a means to show improvement in their knowledge and understanding of the original exam content.

The materials have been compiled by the ASPS In-Service Examination Committee along with the National Board of Medical Examiners® professional staff. All questions were reviewed and found to be objective and supported by appropriate review of the literature and align with evidence-based research.  Content in this education activity has been reviewed by peers and professionals to determine that the content is fair, balanced, and unbiased.

The In-Service Retake Exam consists of five timed exams. Each exam module is timed for 60 minutes. The modules are to be accessed in the order listed. Comprehensive, Hand & Extremities, Craniomaxillofacial, Breast & Cosmetic, Core Surgical Principles
