This focused session explores the evolution of facelift surgery through the lens of seasoned experts reflecting on procedural changes over time. Featuring panel commentary on current best practices—including lateral SMAS applications, dual-plane techniques, and risk-reduction in neck contouring—speakers share what they’ve adopted and what they’ve purposefully eliminated from their approach. Emphasizing anatomy-driven customization and long-term outcomes, this concise but impactful course delivers practical strategies to help surgeons refine technique, reduce complications, and enhance patient-specific results in facial rejuvenation.

Intended Audience

The ASPS Spring Meeting 2025 Quick Hits! series is intended for plastic surgeons, residents, and para-medical professionals interested in refining surgical decision-making and incorporating experience-based insights to improve aesthetic outcomes in facial plastic surgery.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Assess patient-specific anatomical factors (bone structure, soft tissue quality) to guide facelift planning and optimize outcomes.
  2. Compare lateral SMAS application and dual-plane techniques, including indications, technical considerations, and expected outcomes.
  3. Identify risk-reducing strategies in neck contouring, especially alternatives to central neck dissection that maintain aesthetic effectiveness.
