Video Summary
To manage breast implant biofilms, high-quality studies are still needed. Current evidence suggests using povidone iodine for antibiotic irrigation. In cosmetic surgery, pre-operative antibiotics are supported, whereas in reconstruction, 24 to 48 hours of post-operative antibiotics are recommended. Minimizing skin and glandular contact with implants, using funnels or barriers, is also strongly advised to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination.
