Video Summary
The transcript covers an ASPS Global Webinar hosted by Craig Woodstock of the Association of Plastic Surgery in South Africa. He welcomes international attendees, explains webinar housekeeping, and introduces three talks.

Dr. Marshall Murdoch presents a cadaveric study on the labiomental sulcus artery, focusing on chin augmentation and filler safety. He explains that chin filler can achieve results comparable to alloplastic chin implants using relatively small volumes. However, he identifies the labiomental sulcus artery as a previously underappreciated high-risk vascular zone. Based on cadaveric dissections and imaging, he recommends avoiding needles in this region, using superficial cannula-based injection techniques, and being especially cautious in the pre-jowl and paramedian chin areas.

Prof. Nick Karinos discusses “facts and myths” in negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT). He argues that NPWT increases tissue pressure rather than reducing it, and that it immediately reduces perfusion rather than increasing it. He explains that earlier studies using laser Doppler were misleading because vessel compression can falsely appear as increased blood flow. He stresses that NPWT’s main benefit is likely edema reduction and later angiogenesis, but warns it can be harmful in borderline or ischemic tissues if used indiscriminately.

Dr. Joopie De Witt presents a large series on laterally based V-Y advancement flaps for nasal reconstruction after Mohs surgery. He describes the flap design, anatomical basis, outcomes in over 1,000 cases, and techniques to reduce complications such as alar retraction, contour deformities, and marginal necrosis. He emphasizes careful tissue handling, proper dissection planes, and the use of dermabrasion for refinement.

The webinar ends with a Q&A and closing remarks.
