Video Transcription
In this video, we're going to be demonstrating a reduction of the inferior turbinate using a micro-debrider technique. To do this, initially the enlarged inferior turbinate is injected with 1% lidocaine containing epinephrine. After 7 minutes, an 11 blade here is used to make a stab incision over the anterior head of the inferior turbinate. We then take a caudal or similar elevator to elevate the erectile tissue, mucosal soft tissue off of the bony concha so that we create a passage to allow placement of the micro-debrider. The device itself spins and rotates at a suction and irrigation. It's turned away from the concha so toward the cutting edges toward the mucosa and you can watch it as it's taking a core of the erectile and soft tissue from the soft tissues of the inferior turbinate. Finally, after this is completed, the inferior turbinate is lateralized fully with a Boise elevator and on inspection with an endoscope, we can see that the lateral aspect of the inferior turbinate is completely mobilized.
Video Summary
The video demonstrates a procedure for reducing an enlarged inferior turbinate using a micro-debrider technique. After injecting lidocaine with epinephrine into the turbinate, a small incision is made at its anterior head. An elevator tool is used to separate the tissue from the bony structure, allowing for the insertion of the micro-debrider. The device cuts and clears erectile and soft tissue from the turbinate. Once the procedure is completed, the turbinate is fully lateralized with a Boise elevator, and endoscopic inspection confirms successful mobilization.
